How was everyone's 4th of July?

How was everyone's 4th of July?

We had a really good 4th. The high was 75 so it wasn't to hot but that didn't stop the kids from having a water balloon fight and playing in kiddy pool. We went to Kirk's parents house and the neighborhood closed down the block. We had volleyball and bag mitten, sidewalk chalk and bubbles. Not to mention the food. Once it got dark it was time for Fireworks, in Portland there isn't really any big firework show, if you want to go to one you either have to drive about an hour or pay and then you are crowded with lots of people. So we have yet to go to one. Its ok because Dave and Diane's neighbors go across the river to Vancouver and buy about $1000.00 worth of illegal fireworks and we have our own little mini show. The had enough fireworks to last 2 hours. it was very fun and the kids got worn out. My wonderful mother in law bought the sparklers and my 3 kids had 72 sparklers to share. They got bored of them though.

I do miss the small town 4th of July festivities, I always remember Kanab being the best. I wish we could go to a community show sometime. Who knows maybe someday we will visit for the 4th, but until there we are making do with our big city 4th of July.

Let us know how your 4th went! As soon as i get pictures from our holiday i will post a new blog on my page but i wanted to start out mom and dad's first for everyone.

There are HUGE fireworks at Fort Vancouver every year, didn't they have them this year?? I'm jealous of the 75 degree temp, it's been so hot in Utah.

no thats one of the ones that you have to drive forever and stay forever because there are so many people.

we don't want to do that, in Page or Kanab you just walk down the street and your done.

But yes you are right there are lots of Fireworks in Vancouver, but i heard the show was terrible this year.

We drove 30 minutes from our camp trailer in Oak City to delta to see a fireworks that lasted about 10 minutes and had to drive back- not quite worth it...

Our 4th was nice. I spent the morning with my brothers and sisters, then drove home to be with Mel that night. We were invited to some firends for a BBQ and swimming. Then we set up the lawn chairs in our neighbors' front yard and watched the fireworks! Good times!
